Everything You Do Is Significant...

"Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men." ~Colossians 3:23

The past week or so has been very challenging in our house ~ Now, I am not talking about life or death issues here, just the usual mundane things of this world...We've had to deal with things like flat tires, babies waking up numerous times in the middle of the night, migraines, busy schedules, and things of this sort...As the mom of the house, I have been growing a little weary with trying to keep it all together for everyone...

But, I was reading a chapter in a book called Minute Meditations for Busy Moms by Emilie Barnes and she was basically saying that instead of focusing on the day-to-day tasks that cause us to burn-out as Moms, we should instead look at the things we do in our home as a place of ministry and to perform our duties to please God. She stated that "If we work to please people, we will never be satisfied because people always expect more from us, and we can never give enough. If we work to please God, then we will hop out of bed each morning to see what the new day brings."

Although I don't think I will be hopping out of bed each morning, her words have encouraged me. As I go through these homeschooling and mothering days, people (ie, my children) will always expect more from me and it is my job to give it to them. I am going to just try to take it one thing at a time and remember that every thing I do unto God is significant...
